Effective Preselling Advice

If you are into online marketing, it is important that you
fully understand and practice effective preselling. You do
not need to be an expert marketer to be able to do so.
Contrary to common beliefs, preselling is not a technical
skill. It is not something that you should be uncomfortable
with. Instead, it could be the key to your online marketing
success. So what exactly is preselling?

People browse the Internet for information. Generally, they
go online not to buy anything. They just search for
information they need or facts that could help not just
their selves but also their relatives or friends. However,
if they find something worth buying as they read
information, they could be made to purchase. That is
what preselling is all about. You would condition the minds
of online consumers to buy your products and ideas.

Your Website should feature information. It should have
helpful, relevant, interesting, and credible information.
Online consumers are strangers to your website. It is your
job to endear your website to them.

You should succeed to make them think and
feel as if your site is the right venue where they could
get all the information they need in whatever niche your
site is in. You need to establish yourself as an authority
in your chosen niche.

When you establish that connection with your online
readers, you are gaining the power and capability to
presell. If you manage to make readers feel and think that
you are a reliable friend instead of a greedy entrepreneur
who desperately needs money, then you are ready for
preselling. As a friend of your online readers, you could
provide information, tips, and recommendations that they
would find credible, useful, and helpful.

Preselling is all about making your online visitors like
you. It is all about how you establish yourself as a
reliable and worthy expert in the perception of your
readers. You should not make yourself look like a
salesperson. Online consumers are usually allergic to such
professionals. But they always trust whom they could refer
to as friends or experts in specific subjects.

In your Website, you must condition your readers that the
information you share are accurate and are credible. If
they find helpful substance in everything you say they
surely would develop trust in you. When you are able to do
so, you would become a credible authority or a trustworthy
friend. Your recommendations and advices would be taken
seriously.

This way, if you tell your readers to buy the products you
sell and you are able to justify the reasons why they
should do so, you are employing effective preselling
skills.

You could also do affiliate marketing for others. You could
opt not to sell anything on your Website, but you could
direct your readers to Websites that could give them what
they actually need. This is affiliate marketing and
it is one effective way to earn across the Internet.

You could use videos and reviews when you are preselling.
Do so to be able to impress your online readers more.
Also make sure you are able to maintain your credibility
and authority so that your readers will continue to come
back for more.

Just Announced

Amazon SES Gets Simpler with SMTP

We're excited to announce that we have added support for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) to Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES), AWS's highly scalable and cost-effective bulk and transactional email-sending service for businesses and developers. It is now much easier to configure your programs and applications to send email via Amazon SES. Using your existing systems and SMTP, you don't have to write a single line of code to send your email. Get started with SMTP today by going to the AWS Management Console. To learn more about SMTP and Amazon SES, review the Amazon SES SMTP Documentation.

News & Announcements

To keep you up-to-date, here are the latest news items and announcements from AWS.

Announcing New Amazon EC2 Cluster Compute Instance
We are very excited to announce the Public Beta of a new Amazon EC2 Cluster Compute instance, Cluster Compute Eight Extra Large (cc2.8xlarge). Like other Cluster Compute instances, cc2.8xlarge instances are optimized for high performance computing (HPC), giving customers very high CPU capabilities and the ability to launch instances within a high bandwidth, low latency, full bisection bandwidth network. Customers can use Cluster Compute instances for physics simulations, seismic analysis, drug design, genome analysis, aircraft design and a variety of business computing and analytics applications, including Amazon Elastic MapReduce. cc2.8xlarge instances enable customers to achieve supercomputing class performance while continuing to take advantage of the elasticity, flexibility and cost benefits of Amazon EC2. Learn more on the Amazon HPC page.

New Amazon EC2 Reserved Instance Options Now Available
Introducing two new Reserved Instance ("RI") options -- Light Utilization and Heavy Utilization Reserved Instances. Along with the existing Reserved Instance type we've offered for the last several years (renamed Medium Utilization Reserved Instances), these three Reserved Instance types enable you to you to balance the amount you pay upfront with your effective hourly price. For more information visit the Amazon EC2 Reserved Instances page.

Amazon ElastiCache is now available in four additional AWS Regions and as a CloudFormation template
Amazon ElastiCache was released in four additional Regions: US West (N. California), EU West (Dublin), Asia Pacific (Singapore), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo), on December 5th. In addition, you can now configure, provision, and deploy Amazon ElastiCache using Amazon CloudFormation templates. These templates allow you to create and provision a collection of AWS resources in an orderly and predictable way.

Amazon S3 Announces Multi-Object Delete
Amazon S3 announced a new feature, Multi-Object Delete that allows you to delete up to 1,000 objects with a single request. This speeds up your deletes by reducing the number of request roundtrips between your application and Amazon S3. Multi-Object Delete is immediately available in all Amazon S3 Regions free of charge. This feature is supported in both the Amazon S3 API and the AWS SDKs. To learn more about Multi-Object Delete and get started today, please visit the Amazon S3 Developer Guide. To learn more about Amazon S3, please visit the Amazon S3 detail page.

Amazon CloudFront & Amazon Route 53 Add Three New Edge Locations
We're excited to announce the launch of new edge locations in South Bend, IN and San Jose, CA to serve Amazon CloudFront and Amazon Route 53 customers. We have also added a second edge location in New York, NY in order to increase connectivity and to provide even better service for our customers. Amazon CloudFront also recently announced that is has over 20,000 active CloudFront customers doubling the number of customers they had at this time last year. You can read more from CloudFront's Fall update. To learn more about CloudFront and Route 53, please visit the respective product detail pages on our website.

AWS CloudFormation integration with the AWS Simple Monthly Calculator
Since AWS CloudFormation was first introduced, customers have asked for a way to understand how much a stack will cost to run. With this release of the AWS CloudFormation Management Console, you can see all the resources and their costs prior to launching a stack. Also in this release of AWS CloudFormation, you can make configuration changes to more AWS resources including; Amazon EC2 instances, Amazon EC2 security groups, Amazon Identity and Access Management users and groups. You can also use AWS CloudFormation to rotate your Amazon Identity and Access Management keys. Together, these features provide a new level of control and management for your AWS infrastructure, allowing you to manage the lifecycle of your AWS resources in an orderly and predictable fashion. For more details see Understanding Cost in the AWS CloudFormation User Guide.

New Mechanical Turk Review Policy APIs
The new Review Policy API gives Requesters direct programmatic access to 2 commonly used quality assessment tools – Known Answers and Worker Agreement. The Score My Known Answers Review Policy lets Requesters provide "known answers" for questions in their HITs. Mechanical Turk will compare the Worker's submitted answer for these questions to the "known answer" provided. The Simple Plurality Review Policy calculates agreement among Workers performing the same HIT. The Worker Statistics API eliminates the need for Requesters to track Worker statistics and makes it easy for Requesters to take action on Worker statistics. For more information, check out our blog post.

New Amazon Elastic MapReduce Features
We are pleased to announce a number of exciting new Amazon Elastic MapReduce features. You can now run your job flows using Hadoop 0.20.205 and Pig 0.9.1. To simplify the upgrade process, we have also introduced the concept of AMI versions. Simply provide the specific AMI version to use at job flow launch or specify that you would like to use our "latest" AMI, ensuring that you are always using our most up-to-date features. Please visit the AMI Versioning section in the Elastic MapReduce Developer Guide for more information. In addition, we are excited to announce support for running job flows in an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC), making it easier to process sensitive data as well as access resources on your internal network. Please visit the Running Job Flows on an Amazon VPC section in the Elastic MapReduce Developer Guide for more information.

Announcing Elastic Load Balancing in Amazon VPC
You can now use Elastic Load Balancing with Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). The same easy-to-use features of Elastic Load Balancing are available in VPC, such as SSL termination, health checks, sticky sessions, and CloudWatch monitoring, although IPv6 support is not available at this time. In addition to these features, when you provision an Elastic Load Balancer for your VPC, you can now assign security groups to your Elastic Load Balancer. Learn more on the Elastic Load Balancing web page.

AWS Management Console Adds Support for Amazon Route 53
We've added support for Amazon Route 53 to the AWS Management Console. Amazon Route 53 is AWS's highly available and cost-effective Domain Name System (DNS) service, which uses a global network of servers to improve the reliability and performance of your website. With AWS Management Console support, you can get started with Amazon Route 53 faster than ever. Jeff Barr provides a great tutorial on the AWS blog here. Access to the AWS Management Console is provided free of charge.

AWS Elastic Beanstalk Adds Support for AWS Identity & Access Management
We are excited to announce the availability of AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) support for AWS Elastic Beanstalk. AWS Elastic Beanstalk provides a quick way to deploy and manage applications in the AWS cloud. IAM enables you to manage permissions for multiple users within your AWS account. IAM offers you greater flexibility and access controls when using Elastic Beanstalk. For example, you can create groups of users for developers and quality assurance (QA) engineers. The developers group can be granted permissions to create application versions and deploy them to running environments, while the QA group would be granted read-only access, allowing them to see all running environments and all events, to help with testing and debugging. To learn more about using IAM with Elastic Beanstalk, please visit the Elastic Beanstalk Developer Guide.

Featured Case Study: Schneider Electric
In 2011, the international energy management company, Schneider Electric, decided to integrate Amazon Web Services (AWS) into its existing IT environment as a way to test the benefits of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). The company, in combination with consulting firm Edifixio, began by establishing fifteen Internet and Intranet legacy applications on Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC). With this initial migration successfully completed, Schneider Electric now plans to expand its AWS infrastructure to include additional applications and business units. Read the full case study .
