Mike, How To Make 2011 A Blowout Success

Hi Mike,

Michael Rasmussen here with some year end
advice about how to make next year a
phenomenal success for your business.

By the way...you can breathe easy, because
I'm not going to ask you to take out your
wallet for any reason at all. All you need
is your brain.

Last time I told you that most people who
are trying to make a living online never
give themselves the gift of brutal honesty.

They simply don't think about their
business much beyond the idea that they'd
like to make more cash.

Sure, everybody wants that, but if you
REALLY want to achieve your income goals,
you need to be more honest than that. You
need to think about your business, assess
your business and make wise choices for
your business.

What I'm going to talk about this time
fits right in with that. This is a meaty
email, so reserve a few minutes to read it
through.

I'm going to tell you how to plan your
next business year.

That might not sound like a "sexy" topic,
but I can guarantee you that it's the
single best way to increase your success.

When I first started in my business, I
didn't plan at all, literally. There was
so much to learn, and I was so confused,
that I didn't know what to do.

All I knew for sure was that I wanted to
create a business that allowed me to live
the life I wanted to live.

So I kind of muddled through, trying this
and that, trying to figure out what worked
and what didn't.

Pretty soon, I realized that I was going
nowhere.

It had been a year or two and I felt like
I'd made no progress at all. It was very
frustrating, but I wasn't sure what was
wrong.

Then I asked some friends what they
thought the problem might be. This was
back in the days when there weren't more
Internet marketing gurus than you could
count. I just asked some friends who were
having similar struggles.

It was obvious to just about everyone that
the real problem was having no plan. We
were all after anything that would work
consistently, and that meant we chased
just about everything!

Let me save you some years of frustration
by telling you that you MUST have a plan.
It doesn't have to be perfect. It doesn't
have to be brilliant. It just has to exist.

You might be surprised at how easy this is
to do. There are only five steps, and they
build on what I told you last time.

There are entire books written about this
topic, but I'm going to give you a short
plan for getting it done. Maybe that will
save you some reading.


STEP 1: Assess Last Year

Yep, this is what I said you should do
last time, but let me go into a little
more detail.

If you had a plan for last year, see how
things turned out:

* Did you achieve your goals?

* If you didn't achieve a particular goal,
why do you think you fell short?

Most people didn't have a plan last year,
so the assessment isn't a matter of
comparing your results to your goals. But
that doesn't mean you get to skip this
step. You just have to do something
different.

What you'll do is analyze what you want to
achieve overall (success as you define
it), and what you did last year to try to
make progress toward that.

Sure, you didn't make it yet, but ask
yourself if you really tried, and HOW you
tried.

You need to be very specific here.

Ask yourself what you did specifically to
achieve your long-term goals. Be brutally
honest with yourself (again) and figure
out if you wasted time, or lost focus, or
whatever it is.

This is the exercise I described last time,
but I want you to dig VERY deep. Talk to
friends and mentors. Talk to your family,
if you feel comfortable doing that.

Figure out where you've been for the past
12 months, so you can set yourself up to
figure out where you'll go next.


STEP 2: Choose 1-3 "Big" Goals for Next Year

In some ways, a year is just an arbitrary
target. You can have lifetime goals if you
want, or goals for the next decade.

But focusing on next year can help you
start achieving goals on a regular basis,
which is what success is all about.

So choose one, two or three "big" goals to
accomplish next year.

You can have a single goal. That's fine,
and it might actually make you more
focused. But if you have two or three,
that's good as well.

Don't pick four or more goals. That will
hurt you in the long run.

Having too many goals is like having too
many television channels to choose from.
You end up hopping around looking for
something good, and you end up not really
watching anything.

Too many goals are a distraction. Between
one and three well-defined goals lets you
focus like a laser beam. Here's what a
well-defined goal looks like...

First, it's concrete. That means it's
clearly something you want, and it's
specific enough to mean something in the
real world.

It's fine to say you want to "be
wealthy"...but what does that mean? Put a
number on it. Flesh it out. Make it as
concrete as you can make it.

Second, it's actionable for you, meaning
YOU can make progress toward the goal.

It's fine to say you want to cure cancer,
but are you really equipped to do it? Most
people aren't, and it's probably not a
good goal for your online business anyway.

Third, it's achievable...with a stretch.

It's important to make your goals
something that stretch you a bit, sort of
like athletic training. If you don't push
yourself, you'll never achieve more.

But don't push yourself to the breaking
point. Push yourself hard, but not enough
to get hurt. This is a judgment call, for
sure, but it's also something you can
feel.

For example, if you've never made any
profit online before, saying your goal is
to make five thousand dollars a day next
year is probably too big. If you get
there, great! But maybe consistently
making $100 a day is a nice stretch goal.

Fourth, it's exciting. I can't emphasize
this one enough.

If your goals don't motivate you to get
out of bed in the morning, get other
goals. Really, that's what goals are all
about. Make sure yours engage your mind
and get you fired up.

Once you're armed with your well-defined
goals, it's time to plan how to achieve
them.


STEP 3: Determine Each Goal's Success Factor

You have to figure out what you need to do
to achieve each specific goal.

Obviously, the goal itself contains some of
this. If your goal is to make $100 a day,
you need to make $100 a day to achieve it.
But I'm talking about going beyond that.

For example, the success factor for that
goal might be for you to

* Sell your own product for $27

* Sell eight copies per day to net $100
after you pay 50% commissions

Notice that it's very specific. It talks
about what your business model is (selling
your own product) and what kind of results
you need to get.

You're not to the place of defining how
you'll get there yet (that's next), but
you're clearly saying what you need to
achieve to accomplish your goal.

There are no right or wrong answers here.
Your business model might be affiliate
marketing, or selling your product, a
mixture of the two, or something else.

Oh, and the goal you're trying to achieve
influences the success factor you come up
with for that goal.

The example I just gave you was a specific
revenue goal. But your goal could be
something like building your list to
10,000 subscribers. In that case, your
success factor could be:

* Give away a free report on the front end

* Attract 100,000 visitors so a relatively
low 10% conversion rate will be good
enough

Different type of goal, different success
factor.

Now that you know what your success factor
is for each goal, it's time to determine
exactly how to get there.


STEP 4: Break Your Goal Into Parts

There are two flavors of this.

The first thing to do is break your goal
into smaller chunks you can work on
throughout the year. The second thing to
do is to break those smaller chunks into
specific tasks so you know what to work on
today.

Maybe you've heard this old joke: How do
you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!

It's the same thing with goals. Achieving
the entire goal all at once might be too
much. Breaking it down into parts makes it
easier to digest.

Start with time. Break each of your big
goals for the year into quarters, as in
calendar quarters.

If your goal is to make $100 a day, maybe
you should be making $25 per day after the
first three months, then $50 per day after
six months, and so on.

Then break each quarter into monthly
goals. So maybe you should be making
roughly $8 per day after the first month,
or something similar.

There are several ways you can break your
goals down into quarters and months, based
on the type of goal you're dealing with.
The two most common are:

* You can "ramp" the numbers you want to
achieve, such as ramping up your
subscriber count each month

* You can set milestones, such as how much
free time you have per day at the end of
each month

Now, once you've broken your goal into
smaller chunks, it's time to come up with
the daily and/or weekly tasks necessary to
achieve each smaller goal.

For example, to get to your $8 per day
after the first month, you might say
you'll get, on average, one new sale of
your $27 product per day (that will do
better than $8 per day, but you get the
point).

If you assume a one percent conversion
rate, which is pretty conservative but
also pretty common, you'll need 100 people
to see your offer every day...and you need
to specify how you'll make that happen.

Maybe you'll write a new article to
publish, or make some more forum postings,
or whatever it is. This is where you get
to use your head, and ANY other resources
you can draw on, to figure this out.

And until you have some real numbers to
base your estimates on, you'll have to
guess. That's fine. Go ahead and guess and
learn.

Sometimes it's easier to think of things
on a weekly basis. In this example, you
might say you'll shoot for about 55 sales
per week...and do the daily tasks
necessary to make that happen.

This is where the rubber meets the road,
so to speak. It's where you do the
relatively simple daily things to help you
achieve your big goals. You'll be eating
the elephant one bit at a time.


STEP 5: Build In Accountability

This is the step most people miss, and
it's a killer if you overlook it.

You need to be accountable for doing the
daily or weekly stuff necessary to achieve
your goals. I'm not saying you need a baby
sitter, but you DO need to recognize that
you'll have a tendency to neglect your
tasks. We all do.

In the end, there's no substitute for
being accountable to yourself. You just
have to commit to doing what you need to
do, and stick with it.

But sometimes a little external
encouragement can give you a big boost. So
find a mentor or a friend to help you stay
on track. Here's how I suggest you do it:

* Tell this person that you want to get
some friendly nudging from time to time so
you don't neglect what you need to do to
succeed

* Schedule a periodic meeting or phone
call with this person to report your
progress

* Be honest with this person about what
you really did or didn't do since your
last conversation

* Tell this person to give you a slap on
the hand if you don't get the job done

Really, if you don't care about
accomplishing your goals, having this kind
of accountability partner won't help you.

If you DO care, knowing that you're going
to have to admit to somebody that you fell
short could give you the motivation you
need to stay focused.

Every little bit helps. And you can use
your regularly scheduled accountability
conversations to assess your plan, too. If
it needs changing, change it. It's a plan,
not a law.

That's what this entire planning process
is really about...making progress,
assessing progress and achieving things so
it gets to be a habit.

Like I said, I never used to do this, and
my results flat-out stunk. Once I started
planning like this, I realized that
success isn't hard at all. It's a matter
of breaking things down and accomplishing
smaller goals.

Over time, the "small" goals add up to
"big" goals. Then you can move on to even
bigger goals that you can't even imagine
right now.

Give planning like this a try. It has
helped me in my business tremendously, and
I hope it helps you every bit as much.

Part 2 of 3 - I've heard it all before...

Hey!

Wow... Got a TON of feedback regarding
that last email...

I was a bit surprised considering it
went out on Christmas Eve and all.
(I must have hit a nerve... and I
feel bad I haven't been able to get
back to everybody yet).

Anyway...

This is going to be another longish
email so "buckle up". :)

But before I get started, I'll brace
you with the fact that you might not
like what I have to say here... but
it is the truth (as I've experienced
it).

You may also say:

"I've heard it all before..."

If that's the case, I really hope
you've taken action on it. Because
if you've heard it before, chances
are pretty good that it's "for real".

And, if you don't like what you hear...
then just completely ignore it. :)

So let's get started with...

The 3 Core Elements of Magnetic Income

===

I want you to take a second and
digest the following statement:

You CAN make it online.

It's very achievable.

Even if you're new or have little to
no technical skills.

I mean it.

(pay attention to how reading that
statement make you feel. Because it
can reveal a lot about yourself and
how you view this business).

In order to "make it", you need to
pay attention to 3 CORE elements in
your business (and I'm pretty sure
it's going to sound pretty basic
and probably somewhat obvious when
I point this out):


Core Element Number 1:
 
You MUST generate INSTANT Cash Flow.

Didn't see that coming, did you? :)

If you can't generate something
relatively quickly with your online
marketing endeavors, I'm sorry to say,
your life in IM will most likely be
short lived.

This is a REAL business, and in this
business (as with any small business),
the immediate goal is to get cash-flow
NOW!

Thankfully, internet marketing is one
of the few business vehicles where
this is entirely possible.

I really can't stress how important
this first element is.

If you can pull this off, your online
life will be a lot easier simply
because you've proven to yourself,
and your significant other, that you
actually know what you're doing (at
least it will seem like it to them).

AND that it's actually POSSIBLE to do
this Internet Marketing "thing".

Chances are also that it will most
likely take it from a "hobby" to a
"business".

In other words, you'll start to take
it more seriously... and it'll get a
lot more fun.

I'll leave you with this: I've used
this single element to create cash flow
EVERY SINGLE MONTH over the past year
like clockwork.

Nothing fancy... just simple stuff that
you can do as well.

And in the case study, I'll share with
you 3 separate income models I've used
over and over again over the past year
to generate income virtually overnight
(or in as little as a couple of hours).

Core Element Number 2:

As with any business, you HAVE TO
create ASSETS.

This is where you go from "making money"
to building a business online. Your
asset(s) can be a few different things,
but one thing remains certain...

Once you've established an asset online,
there's really no limitation as to what
you can truly achieve.

The danger however, is that a lot of
people get stuck at this stage... even
though they ought to know better.

Some of course never get to this point,
simply because they are either content
with just running their business based
on strategies from "Element 1"...

OR they simply don't know to take the
next step (thinking that the first
element is all that there's to this
internet marketing "thing").

This is where Magnetic Income really
shines. And in the case study I'll take
you behind the scenes of one of my main
vehicles that allowed me to create a
six-figure business in my spare time
from SCRATCH.

And I'll discuss exactly HOW I did it,
and how you can take the same principles
and apply it in your own business.

Core Element Number 3:

You need to develop recurring cash flow!

Some might call this residual type of
income, others recurring (depending on
their business model)... either way, what
you want to focus on is to get off the
"treadmill" so to speak and stop
reinventing the wheel month in and month
out.

There are several different avenues to
element 3, but the short of it is that
you don't want your income to stop just
because you stopped working or decided
to take a month off (which can be the
case in Step 1 and 2).

This is when you're starting to build a
business like what Tim Ferris talked
about in the "4-Hour Work Week"! (if you
haven't read it, READ IT - it will change
your thinking on so many levels)

This really is the "easiest" element of
the three. Because you can turn Elements
1 and 2 into recurring income streams with
the right planning and execution.

I'll show you exactly what I've done to
do this.

OK, you are now armed with knowledge that
95% of wannabe marketers completely ignore
(they may know about this, but they've
never sat down and planned their business
in this way).

So, now that you're one step ahead on the
'knowledge curve', what are you going to
do with it?

Well, I'll show you what I did, which is
essentially telling you what to do...
more on that later.

The Answer (to Rick's question)

===

Let me just spend 10 seconds of your time
on mindset (just 2 things... I swear):

1. STOP JUMPING FROM ONE THING TO THE NEXT!

Because chances are pretty good it's not
getting you closer to your goal... is it?

And remember what our business goal is
when we first start out? It's...


.


.


...to make an immediate POSITIVE
difference in your pocketbook.

So, focus on making money NOW!

That means, this week, next week or at
the very least THIS MONTH (and yes, it's
possible) you need to have earned
something online.


2. Most people FAIL in IM (and many
other things in life)... NOT because
they don't know how.

You read that right. It's NOT because
they don't know how.

You're most likely armed with enough
knowledge to unleash the "money making
potential of the inter-webs".

Even if you're a relative newcomer
to this biz, you can most probably earn
something within the next 1 - 2 weeks
(ok, maybe 4 weeks if you work
incredibly slowly).

By the way, if you're curious as to why
most people fail... this is why:

It's because...


THEY DON'T HAVE TO.


That's right.

You may not agree with me but it's how
things are...

(Tony Robbins always talks about
needing to turn your 'want' into a
'must'... this is no different).

In other words, most people have a job
where they get a pay check on a monthly
basis... so it's not a MUST for them
to get the business off the ground
quickly.

However, if someone was holding a gun
to your head and said if you don't come
up with some way to make money online
by next week or they'll...

Would you be able to?

My guess is the answer is a resounding:


YES.


But the thing is... most of us are not
in that situation (hopefully).

And honestly, if you were (or are)
indeed in dire financial straits, you'd
make something happen (I speak from
experience... and did so knowing VERY
little about any of this stuff).

So, if you truly want this to happen,
make it a priority and a "MUST".

So, what's the next step?

Hopefully that's obvious:

"To create immediate cash flow."
(Yes, I'm going to keep hammering on this)

I know what you're probably thinking
right now...

So what does that mean?

How do I do that???

The answer comes in 2 parts:

1. There needs to be some kind of
transaction where money is being
transferred between 2 parties.

(I know, you're probably going "duh"...
I already know that!).

This means there needs to be a SALE
happening somewhere, right?

And...

2. You need to "Find an immediate
need and fill it"

Heard it before?

Good.

You'll get to hear it again. :)

The easiest "need" to fill is to
provide a 'starving market' some kind
of a service or a product.

There are 3 major markets where this
really applies (in my opinion), with
multiple sub-markets in each (Later I'll
share with you 7 sub-markets I believe
are most profitable).

The key obviously is to provide a
service that's already selling... that
way you're NOT re-inventing the wheel.

Can you see the bigger picture now?

You are just 500 measley clicks a day from quitting your stupid job for good and never having to commute and go work for somebody else again.

All you need to know is follow the M.T.S. System...

Fact:  One of my students, Jason Parker who was a factory worker in Nebraska, used M.T.S. to get an average of 513 visitors a day to his homemade website.   

He converts about 2% of those people a day into customers, on average.

Each sale is worth $20 to him. 

That's 300 customers a month.

$6,000 a month profit.

product converts if you are using ppc and maybe even months if you
are using free traffic tactics.
 
It's true... the gems *are* out there - but few have the stomach to
ride out the losers and find them.
 
Now, back in August when we did the survey, me and my team
sat down and tried to address the problem.
 
We knew, if we found the answer, affiliates everywhere would
scramble to get in - at *any* price.
 
Well, we couldn't come up with a solution.
 
But luckily, we didn't need to.
 
Because a few days ago, I got an e-mail about a new piece of software
which actually *predicts* conversion rates.

I will leave that to sink in for a minute.

Imagine a world where you can test a Google campaign in 30 clicks -
instead of 300,... split-test multiple review pages *automatically*,
and in only 1/30 of the time...
 
This is practically a world where you can move with the speed
of an F1 driver, but *also* the precision of a neuro-surgeon.
 
Sounds like a tall order right? You can probably guess that to
*even* attempt that would involve some incredibly complex
mathematical formula.
 
And you would be right.
 
Luckily, despite the complex calculations going on in the
background, actually *using* the tool is as simple as sending a
visitor to a link.
 
You don't even need to have your own website or contact your merchant
to insert a code on their landing page if you choose not to.
 
Just send the clicks -and let the tool tell *you* where the money is.
 
But despite all this devastatingly simplicity, the software actually
allows you to peak "under the hood" of the merchant's website - to
get information that even *they* aren't privvy to.
 
It's the next level in *Google espionage*, it's out today - and it's
called Conversion Prophet.
 
If you want to quit your job, and become a full-time affiliate, but
don't have the technical skills (or the capital / stomach for
massive testing), this could well be the weapon you need.
 
No website needed. Just plug in and profit.
 

No wonder that Peter's test subjects made statements like this...
 
"...within 7 days I cut my Advertising costs by 70%..."
 
"...What used to be a test on almost 500 visitors is now reduced to
25 visitors..."
 
"...this software has made me FAR, FAR, more than it has cost...."
 
Given what it does, you would expect it to cost $500-2000. But the
cost is *not* what you think.
 

In case you are thinking, "this sounds too good to be true", you
are 100% right.
 
Which is why this deal is so darn limited. Peter and his team are
only willing to release this at such a ridiculously low price for

that, you are taking your chances - with the price, and the

e-Etiquette: Guidelines for Emailing Potential Employers

Email has emerged as one of the most powerful communication tools to date. It's fast, free, and convenient nature has made it suitable for both professional and personal correspondence. While the accessibility, speed and ease of email has streamlined communication in the modern workplace, many candidates in today's job market are led to believe it's perfectly acceptable to take an informal approach in business communications via email. But effective professional exchange, particularly when applying for a job, demands a businesslike approach and the consideration of basic etiquette and practices with regard to electronic communication. If you have not been getting as many responses as you like from your emailed cover letters, resumes, or inquiries, the guidelines I've outlined below can help you tune up your approach to effective communication in the digital age.

1. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS

Reading comprehension and the ability to follow instructions are two of the main criteria that employers look for in a prospective job candidate. When responding to an ad for employment, it is crucial for one to read and follow the application instructions completely. Providing application instructions is often an employer's first step in the process of candidate evaluation and screening. Many companies, for instance, will ask applicants to insert a specific subject in the Subject Line of their emails. As the submissions begin rolling in, the employer will then delete all messages that do not contain the requested subject line. Even the most qualified candidates who fail to follow instructions can be immediately eliminated from consideration. Double-checking that you have followed all of the employer's instructions can help save you from the recycle bin and should be the first step in proving to the hirer that you possess the skills they desire.

2. DON'T "CC"

Though sending cover letters, resumes, and inquiries to many companies at once (using the "carbon copy" or "CC" field) may be an efficient means of reaching several recipients quickly, it is certainly not effective. Any potential employer that opens an applicant's email and sees several recipients in the "CC" field will likely be insulted. Sending generic messages and "bulk-mailing" resumes to several recipients at once is widely considered impersonal and lazy. 

3. SPARE ATTACHMENTS

When an employer requests that you email a resume, it is best to place your resume within the body of an email. Do not send cover letters or resumes as attachments unless specifically requested to do so. Incompatible word processing formats and differing computer systems or protocol can leave an attachment undeliverable, unreadable or indecipherable. Not only can unwanted attachments be annoying to busy professionals, they are also often caught and automatically deleted by email systems designed to combat viruses.

4. SPELL IT OUT but KEEP IT SHORT

Abbreviations, Internet slang, and emoticons should be reserved for personal communications only. When using email for professional correspondence, spell out all words and be sure that your tone reflects a professional nature. Do not include too many personal details and keep the email as short as possible. In other words, get to the point, and do so politely. An email that includes more detail than necessary will only cause the reader's attention to waiver.

5. DON'T SEND YET

Proofread your email first! Then proofread it again. Spell-checkers are a helpful first line of defense but are inadequate at catching every spelling mistake, and they're almost completely useless with regard to grammar. Don't forget to check the details, a perfect resume is useless if you mistype your name or misspell an address. Reading your correspondence or resume aloud is an invaluable tool that will usually catch mistakes that our eyes often miss or skim over. If possible, having a friend or loved one check your work can bring both a fresh perspective and a more critical eye towards catching any of those embarrassing gaffes. Hiring managers equate spelling and grammatical errors with careless ineptitude. A single error can cost you the one job you're after, so take your time and always proofread professional correspondence carefully and thoroughly. ¤¤
